Mandaeans Association is
an organisation set up on the basis of a religious sect of great antiquity that still exists in limited followers in the borders
and territories of Iraq
and Iran. It contains a variety of ancient elements that attest
antiquity and adherents to the faith can be found in the cities, villages and in the lands of the lower Euphrates,
the lower Tigris, and the rivers that surround the shatt-al-arab. The association consists of 400 families
living in London. It was founded since 1992 and became a charitable organisation
in 2003.
Mandaeans Association undertakes
activities such as social, educational support after school hours practice its religion and have a general meeting once in
a month which involves traditional food, organise special events like EID Mubarak. It invites elder people to talk to young
generations and share information of reality and heritage histories.
Mandaeans Association participated
in different activities since joined the forum such as refugee week, the black history month, did a presentation on the community
council meetings, attended various trainings on stress management, funding communications and also attended on the forums
meetings.
Becoming a forum member the
organisation benefited from the training courses, workshop sessions and celebration of the black history month. To highlight
the benefits are networking with other RCO’s and statutory sectors, gaining recognitions from others and receive support
on funding, resources, advice and access to information on relevant matters.
