Southwark Refugee Communities Forum and Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers have marked Refugee Week 2011 by organising a community celebration at Southwark Council Headquarters on Monday 20th June 2011.

A round the table discussion was organised to talk about the situation of refugees in Southwark and to allow organisations working with refugees to explore new ways of collaborating.

The discussion was followed by a community event presented by the chair of SRCF, Marie-Laurence Tape-Panzo, during which the Mayor of Southwark, Cllr Lorraine Lauder, awarded certificates of recognition to exemplary members of refugee communities.  Dance performances from the Eritrean, Ethiopian, Bolivian, Vietnamese and Latin American communities followed, for the great pleasure of the numerous public attending.
